Life has a way of throwing unexpected challenges our way. I've never met anyone who hasn't experienced some kind of challenge in life. Have you? But it’s how we react to and what we choose to do with those challenges that makes all the difference. I've had a few challenges in my lifetime and gained a little wisdom on this transformative journey... and I am more than happy to share what I’ve learned with others.Â
Challenges
For me, one of those challenges came in the form of a rare disease that nearly took my life at the young age of 21. This eye-opening experience ignited a burning passion within me to not only reclaim my own health and wellness but also empower others to do the same. Eventually, through a lot of therapies, medications, grit and determination, I recovered. However, the hurdles didn't end there. Despite my determination to rebuild my life, I found myself entangled in a series of abusive relationships. The physical and emotional scars left by these experiences were as challenging as any physical illness I had faced.
Changes
All of these experiences, along with many others not mentioned, led me to a place where I knew I needed change in my life. More than just change, actually - I needed healing. Physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, I needed deep, meaningful, lasting transformation. At first I didn't realize the depth of healing I needed but I knew that staying where I was in all those areas was not an option. So, I enrolled in the Health Coach Training Program though the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN). This program was so impactful for me that I have an entire Why I Chose IIN page on my website dedicated to why I loved it so much, so be sure to check it out for more background on how it impacted me.
Through what I learned at IIN I was able to find a path to healing, change and transformation, that I didn't realize was possible. So I did the work. I took the time I needed, and had the grit to keep believing in myself. In the end, I not only found the healing I was so desperately searching for, I also found my purpose, my mission in life - to help others who needed to find healing after abusive relationships.
Chances
Through it all, I realized that my experiences were not in vain. They fueled my resolve to help others escape the darkness of abuse, both physically and emotionally. As I reflect upon my journey from battling a rare disease to surviving abusive relationships, I am grateful for the lessons learned, the resilience that was born within me and the chances that I now have to help others. I learned that challenges may be difficult, but they bring change and chances to make the world a better place. Through my work as a health coach, I strive to be a beacon of light for abuse survivors, reminding them that they too have the power to reclaim their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
So I want to invite you along on this journey, if healing after abuse is the place you find yourself today. Let's travel on this transformative journey towards true and lasting wellness together. Remember, no matter what challenges life throws at us, we have the strength within us to not just survive but to thrive.
